Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity
Rellia, Inc. Effective Date: August 25, 2026
Rellia is committed to equal housing opportunity.
Our commitment
Rellia, Inc. supports and complies with the federal Fair Housing Act, the New York State Human Rights Law, and all applicable state and local fair housing and anti-discrimination laws. Every person who uses the Rellia Platform is entitled to fair and equal treatment.
We do not tolerate housing discrimination on our Platform, whether by Rellia, by a user, or by any professional participating in a transaction coordinated through the Platform.
Protected characteristics
Under the federal Fair Housing Act, it is unlawful to discriminate in the sale, rental, financing, or advertising of housing because of:
- race
- color
- religion
- national origin
- sex, including gender identity and sexual orientation
- familial status (including families with children under 18 and pregnant persons)
- disability
The New York State Human Rights Law extends these protections further, and also prohibits housing discrimination based on:
- creed
- age
- marital status
- military status
- gender identity or expression
- lawful source of income (including housing assistance, Social Security, supplemental security income, pension, child support, alimony, foster care subsidies, annuities, and unemployment benefits)
- citizenship or immigration status
- status as a victim of domestic violence
- arrest or conviction record, to the extent protected by law
County, city, town, and village ordinances in New York may provide additional protections. Where local law protects more characteristics than federal or state law, the broader protection applies.
What this means on the Rellia Platform
For sellers. You control whether to accept, counter, or decline any offer. That discretion does not extend to decisions based on a protected characteristic. You may not refuse to sell, impose different terms, misrepresent availability, or steer a buyer because of who they are. Your listing content, photographs, and communications must not state a preference, limitation, or discrimination based on any protected characteristic, and must not use language that would signal one to a reasonable person.
Lawful source of income deserves specific attention in New York. Refusing an otherwise qualified buyer or imposing different terms because of the form of their lawful income, including government assistance or a housing voucher, is unlawful in New York State.
For buyers. You are entitled to equal access to every listing on the Platform, equal information, and equal treatment throughout the transaction. If you believe you have been treated differently because of a protected characteristic, we want to know.
For participating professionals. Attorneys, title agents, inspectors, lenders, insurance providers, and photographers who participate in a Rellia transaction are independently responsible for their own compliance with fair housing law, and are subject to it in their dealings on the Platform.
For Rellia. We do not use protected characteristics to target advertising for housing, to determine which listings a user sees, to rank or filter search results, or to route a user to or away from any property, neighborhood, or professional. We do not build audience segments for housing advertising on the basis of a protected characteristic. Our advertising and product surfaces are designed so that these criteria are not available as inputs.
Rellia's role
Rellia is a technology platform that coordinates transactions. Rellia is not a real estate broker or agent and does not represent any party in a transaction. That role does not lessen our fair housing obligations or yours. Fair housing law applies to advertising, to platform design, and to the conduct of every participant in a transaction, and we hold ourselves to it.
Accessibility and reasonable accommodation
If you need an accommodation to use the Rellia Platform or to participate in a transaction, contact us at support@relliahomes.com and we will work with you to provide reasonable assistance.
Reporting discrimination
If you believe you have experienced housing discrimination on the Rellia Platform or in a transaction coordinated through it, report it to us at fairhousing@relliahomes.com. We investigate every report. Conduct that violates fair housing law is grounds for immediate removal of a listing, suspension or termination of an account, and referral to the appropriate authorities.
You also have the right to file a complaint directly with a government agency, and you do not need to contact Rellia first:
- U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), Office of Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity. File at hud.gov or call 1-800-669-9777 (TTY 1-800-927-9275).
- New York State Division of Human Rights. File at dhr.ny.gov or call 1-888-392-3644.
- New York State Office of the Attorney General, Civil Rights Bureau. File at ag.ny.gov.
A complaint under the federal Fair Housing Act must generally be filed with HUD within one year of the alleged discrimination. Deadlines under state and local law may differ. Contact the relevant agency or an attorney promptly to protect your rights.
